Permission?

October 30, 2009

More fun from our government-run schools by way of Garland, TX.   This is what a school there thinks is a summation of the Second Amendment:

We can get permission to own weapons to protect ourselves.

Uh, not quite.  It actually says:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Notice the lack of the word “permission”.  As a matter of fact, this is the only amendment which states that a right “shall not be infringed”.  It doesn’t say the right to bear arms shall not be infringed unless the gun looks mean.

The completely list of the summations of the Bill of Rights is here.  Thanks to Jerry at At the Root.
