Hope & Change & Fear

February 5, 2009

I thought that using fear to pass legislation was a bad thing.  It was for the last eight years.  The left continuously accused George W. Bush of playing on people’s fears to get things done.  Well, I guess since we have President Hopenchange, The One, it’s okay to use the fear tactic now.  Here is a quote from an OpEd the president wrote:

And if nothing is done, this recession might linger for years. Our economy will lose 5 million more jobs. Unemployment will approach double digits. Our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse.

That sounds like fear mongering to me.  He knows the simulus is becoming more and more unpopular every day and that it needs to pass before the negative backlash becomes too great.  He knows people can see that spending nearly one trillion dollars is not the way to economic recovery, especially since only about twelve percent will actually go toward creating new jobs.

It also doesn’t help when 177 million dollars is going toward art projects.  This “stimulus” bill is a mess and should be shot down now.

H/T to The Anchoress.
